Cast Your Vote - Black History Month Poster Contest Finalists
Dear Families,
During the month of February, York Region District School Board held a student poster contest to determine our official Black History Month poster for 2021.
We received over 250 submissions, and a panel of experts has narrowed it down to four finalists. In order to determine the winner, the Board will be holding a virtual vote open to all YRDSB students and staff. Voting will take place via this Google form that will also be distributed over social media.
Voting is limited to one vote per person and will take place from June 3-5.

Are you moving?
Are you moving?? If you will be moving by September 2020, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can ensure the proper paperwork is completed. We are currently projecting our student enrollment for September 2020. These numbers help us plan for supporting all of our students in September. It is important that we know as soon as possible if your child is attending French Immersion at Louis-Honore Frechette P.S. in September. ESL for Citizenship
York Region District School Board, in partnership with the government of Ontario (MCIIT), provides language classes for citizenship test preparation. This course develops effective language skills in preparing adult ESL learners (18+) to take the Canadian Citizenship test through a focus on specific vocabulary and necessary concepts.
Are you looking for free training to enhance your language skills in preparation for your Citizenship application?
This program may be right for you if you are:- CLB 3+ in Speaking
- Applying for Citizenship
- Preparing for the Citizenship test
- Interested in learning about Canadian history, geography, government, etc.
How do I start?
Registration is ongoing. A language assessment may be necessary to start the training.

NEW! Gr. 8 Reach Ahead 2020 Summer Credit Language Program
NEW! Grade 8 Reach Ahead 2020 Summer Credit Language Program & Grade 9 to 12 Students (Spanish & Mandarin)
- Grade 8 students can now take a Grade 9 credit course this summer in Spanish or Mandarin.
- Grades 9 to 12 students can now take Level B or C summer credit courses in Spanish or Mandarin.
- Prerequisites are not required for any Level B international languages course.
- This is an 18-day program (July 6-29, Monday to Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 3:33 p.m. daily) for one credit introductory (Level B) international languages course.

Non-YRDSB Students - Registration opens March 9, 2020
- Complete the registration form.
- Forms can be dropped off Monday through Friday at the Continuing Education Services office located on the main floor of the Dr. Bette Stephenson Centre for Learning (36 Regatta Ave., Richmond Hill) between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
