Mindfulness helps us
understand our feelings, thoughts, and body: Workshop for Families with
Children
This virtual workshop will
introduce families and their kids to interactive mindfulness practice and
practical strategies on how to calm our busy minds. This session will be an
opportunity for you and your child to connect to yourselves and to each other. Strategies
will include breathing to cope with stress and new situations, and learning
about how our body responds to stress. Research tells us that mindfulness
can help improve our abilities to pay attention, calm down, and make
better decisions.

pencil, clear jar/water bottle, and glitter/sparkles. Parents, caregivers and
children are welcome to attend together!

CPS Office Reminders
A few friendly reminders as we enter our last 2 weeks prior to the winter break.
Please make every effort to have your children to school on time before the 8:35 a.m. bell. There has been an increased number of late students which causes many class disruptions to student learning.
Remember that changes in cold/wet weather require different layers of clothing including: gloves, hats, mitts, jackets, boots and in some cases snow pants so students can stay dry and warm. A separate pair of indoor shoes is needed during winter weather. Consider placing extra clothes in your child’s backpack so they have a back up if needed.
Don't forget to send your child with a reusable water bottle and that they pack a fork/spoon as needed for their lunch. We no longer have plastic forks or spoons.
Lastly, if you need to pick up your children during the day before regular dismissal, please call the office to advise staff. The office number is 905-738-5497 and a phone call is preferred over email, as this may get missed.

CPS School Council Gift Card Fundraiser
School Council has just launched a new gift card fundraiser for
Charlton Public School using FundScrip!
Please visit the official website here:
https://www.fundscrip.com/support-a-group/Z2VDEL
Once there, you will have to create your own
personal log-in to be able to purchase gift cards online. Choose from over 150 different retailers offering different gift card
options (with differing value amounts and available in different formats, such
as plastic, e-gift card or reloadable card). You will be able to scroll through
to see the different retailers or search for a specific one (and there are many
to choose from including gas, groceries, apparel, restaurants, etc.)
Support CPS by buying gift cards for others as gifts or buying for yourself to use
on your everyday purchases! Each gift card is assigned a cash back percentage
(the exact amount is visible on the website), which is the amount that will be
donated to Charlton Public School. You will be able to use the full amount of
the gift card purchased (ie. if you buy a $25 Indigo gift card, you will be
able to spend the full $25). The gift cards may be used in store or online (which
will be specified on the website according to which gift card you purchase).
Our fundraiser will run on an ongoing basis until May 31, 2021.
If you would like to
receive plastic gift cards before the holidays, it is recommended to place all
orders by December 8th at 6:30 am. You
may also consider purchasing an e-gift card which can be then be printed and
given as a gift.
The gift cards will be shipped directly to your
home or to any Canadian address of your choice (such as to other family members
or friends). The school will not be receiving
any orders at this time. Shipping costs $1.04 paid by the supporter at
checkout.
The shipping cost is currently
waived for orders that fall between $200-$500 (as a COVID initiative currently
offered by the company until the end of this year). Once items are added to
your cart, the shipping fee will show, however, after you proceed to checkout,
you will see that the shipping fee is waived, if applicable. If the order is
less than $200, the shipping cost of $1.04 will be applied.
There is a limit of 4 gift cards per order and a
total maximum value of $500 per order. You can place orders as often as
you like, independent of any schedule.
There are 3 payment methods available:
- Electronic
Funds Transfer (EFT) - there are no fees associated with this method. It
can be easily set up when you join through the website (it will prompt you
if you select this payment method).
- Online
Banking Bill Payment (aka Payee) - there are no fees associated with this
method. This method allows you to pay for your orders as you would pay for
any other bill. Please note that it can take at least 3 business days for
FundScrip to receive payment. (This payment method is not recommended if
you want to receive the cards before the holidays).
- Credit
card - the earnings will be reduced by 1.99% to cover fees associated with
this method of payment. (For example, if the cash back value is 10%, it
will reduce the value donated to 8.01%).
We thank you for your support.
